Coach of the Year

For the Alfa Romeo Cuore Sportivo Coach Award, ten athletics coach have been shortlisted from over 14,000 nationwide from across the UK, for a chance to drive the <a href=”http://www.lipscomb.co.uk/”>new Alfa Romeo</a> MiTo sporty compact of the year.

The official Car supplier to the UK Athletics, Alfa Romeo UK, launched the initiative to identify a coach who has demonstrated the three core values at the heart of Alfa Romeo which are passion, pride and performance throughout their Coaching career. The competition is open to all UKA Level 2 accredited Coaches and above. Earlier this year, UKA announced 2010 as the Year of the Coach.

The campaign is designed to recognise hard work, expertise and the key role a coach plays in bringing success to the athletes across the country. UKA are also working closely with the Home Country Athletics Federations to highlight, reward and further develop Coaching Skills.

Damien Dally, Brand Communications Manager at Alfa Romeo UK, comments: “We launched the Cuore Sportivo coach award to acknowledge the crucial role that coaches play in the success of UK Athletics. It is a very exciting time for the sport and behind every athlete striving to fulfil their sporting dreams, is a much wider team. We received some inspiring entries and extend our congratulations to all the coaches who made the shortlist.”

To help coaches develop their skills and knowledge the Home Country Athletics Federations have launched a dedicated coaching resource website named ‘uCoach’, as well as a restructured coach education programme.
